T.E.G. Solution — gameplay still

A classroom game that turns a school day into a shared game world. Pupils in 7th and 8th grade play in teams of five, every kid with an iPad, using augmented reality to put their solutions to real climate problems into the room around them. It is built on the nine Planetary Boundaries and ties each challenge to a vocational education.

Made for Syddansk Erhvervsskole with Region Syddanmark, the Stockholm Resilience Centre and 19 partner schools. It won the International Educational Game Competition at ECGBL 2024 and was shortlisted for the World Summit Awards 2024.

I was lead programmer on a team of five developers, and built all of the multiplayer and the backend. The hard part was getting all the mini games to play together as one cohesive experience, with eight teams in crossplay at once. Most of the mini games are asymmetric information games: the team captain gets some information, has to communicate it to the others, and they have to act on it. How well that goes is the game.
